Eastern Visayas sets new record of 276 for highest COVID-19 cases in a day

Today, June 03, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s new active COVID-19 cases at 276. 


TACLOBAN CITY — Eastern Visayas sets its record anew for the highest recorded Covid-19 cases in a day. 276 new COVID-19 cases and 26 new recoveries were recorded today, June 3, 2021, according to the Department of Health-Eastern Visayas.

As of 10 AM today, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 21,452, total recoveries at 19,733 (91.99%), and total deaths at 324 (1.51%). This brings the total active cases to 1395 (6.50%). 


A total of 276 new cases were recorded today out of the 1,336 laboratory samples tested in four (4) COVID-19 laboratories. Of these, 271 came from the three COVID-19 laboratories in the region -  the EVRMC, the OMDC, and the DWHVL.  While five (5) cases were reported by the Philippine Red Cross in Cebu City. The total number of new cases represents a 20.64% positivity rate. 

The EVRCTC has released a total of 739 laboratory results. Of these, 560 are negative and 179 are positive (with 175 new cases and 4 re-swabs) for COVID-19.


Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 376 laboratory results. Of these, 327 are negative and 49 are positive (with 44 new cases . 1 re-infection, and 4 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

Whereas, the OMDC has released a total of 165 laboratory samples.  Of these, 113 are negative and 52 are positive with COVID-19.

Likewise, the Philippine Red Cross of Cebu City has released a total of  57 laboratory samples from Eastern Visayas. Of these, 52 are negative and 5 are positive for COVID-19.
