Tacloban PESO opens online registration for SPES 2024

TACLOBAN CITY – The Tacloban City Public Service Office (TCPESO) has announced that the online registration for the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) will be open on Wednesday, February 14, 2024.

The SPES program is a government initiative that aims to provide temporary employment and financial assistance to poor but deserving students who want to pursue their education. The program also helps students develop their skills and work ethics through exposure to various public and private sector jobs.

According to the TCPESO, there are 160 slots available for the SPES program this year, which will be divided into two batches. The first batch will work from April 1 to May 15, while the second batch will work from May 16 to June 30.

Interested applicants may apply through a link that will be posted by the TCPESO on its official Facebook page on February 14, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The link will direct applicants to an online form where they will fill out their personal and academic information.

The TCPESO has also posted the qualifications for the SPES program, which are as follows:

  • At least 15 years old but not more than 30 years old.
  • Resident of Tacloban City
  • Must be a High School, Senior High School or College student from 1st to 3rd year (Technical or Vocational courses).
  • No failing grade from the recent grading or semester.
  • Combined net income of both parents must not exceed the Poverty Threshold of 166,088.00.
  • Must possess at least basic computer skills (Word and Excel).
  • Not a 4Ps/UCT/MCCT Member.
  • Not a Student Scholar 

The TCPESO said that around 200 applicants will be accommodated on a "first come, first served basis" and will be screened and interviewed at a later date. The employment office made it clear that walk-in applicants will not be accepted. —iTacloban
