PHILIPPINES – President Ferdinand "BongBong" R. Marcos Jr. delivered a heartfelt message to the nation, encouraging everyone to embrace and promote the Filipino language during the celebration of Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa (National Language Month).

He emphasized that the national language holds immense power in uniting the country and driving it towards greater prosperity.

During his address, President Marcos highlighted how language plays a crucial role in shaping individuals' thoughts and communication methods. He stressed that it is not just a tool for expressing ideas but also a means to enrich and advance collective knowledge from one generation to another.

"Sa pagkakataong ito, ating bigyang-pansin ang kapangyarihan ng wika hindi lamang sa pagbuo ng ating kaisipan at paraan ng komunikasyon, kundi pati na rin sa pagkintal ng ating patuloy na pagsulong at pagdala ng kolektibong karunungan sa bawat henerasyon (In this opportunity, let's pay attention to the power of language not only in the development of our minds and means of communication but also in enriching and advancing our collective knowledge to every generation)," said President Marcos.

Moreover, he urged the citizens to share their stories and experiences in the Filipino language, considering them as the strong foundation for the country's development.

"Sa pamamagitan ng wikang Filipino, ating ilahad ang mga kuwento at karanasang magiging matibay na saligan ng ating pag-unlad (Through the Filipino language, let us tell the stories and experiences that will be the solid foundation of our development)," he added.

As the nation marks the Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa in August every year, this month-long celebration aims to promote and celebrate the Filipino language and the rich cultural heritage of the Philippines. This year's theme, "Filipino at mga Katutubong Wika: Wika ng Kapayapaan, Seguridad, at Inklusibong Pagpapatupad ng Katarungang Panlipunan," emphasizes the importance of language in achieving peace, security, and inclusive implementation of social justice. —iTacloban (Source: PIA)
