EASTERN VISAYAS –  The Samar First District Engineering Office, operating under the Department of Public Works and Highways, proudly announces the successful completion of three Multi-purpose Buildings (MPBs) with a combined contract value of Php 14.82 million.

These significant endeavors were made possible through the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2022 funding as part of the District Engineering Office's ongoing infrastructure initiatives.

Out of the trio of structures, two stand as two-storey MPBs designed to house the Barangay Hall in Barangay Tinaplacan, Calbayog City (Php 4.93 million), and Barangay Bangahon, Gandara, Samar (Php 4.94 million). These buildings offer a central hub for community members to engage with their local barangay officials. They are equipped with essential amenities such as PWD ramps with safety rails, bathrooms, and toilets. Beyond administrative interactions, these spaces are earmarked for regular meetings and other communal gatherings, ensuring improved connectivity and governance.

Meanwhile, Barangay Bugtong witnesses the rise of a 315-square-meter MPB, representing an investment of Php 4.95 million. The comprehensive scope of work encompasses long-span roofing, durable concrete flooring, and the strategic placement of lamp lights within the facility.

Projected to function as a versatile community-covered court, this structure is set to accommodate a range of activities. From sports events and social gatherings to meetings and medical missions, both barangay officials and Bugtong Elementary School students and teachers will have the opportunity to utilize this space for the greater benefit of the community. —iTacloban (Source: DPWH-8)
