TACLOBAN CITY — Tacloban City was named one of the top ten cities in the country by the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) based on year-on-year growth in locally sourced revenues in 2019.

On Thursday morning, October 28, Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez and the staff of the Tacloban City Treasurer's Office (CTO) accepted the certificate from BLGF Regional Director Gerardo Avorque with pleasure and gratitude.

Because of the LGU's acknowledgment, CTO, under the leadership of Zosima Cordaño, was challenged to strive for greater heights.

The city recorded Php 445,307,785.57 in 2019, up from Php 384,959,808.69 in 2018, representing a 15.7 percent increase.

"This would not have been possible without the continued support and trust of our valued taxpayers in the leadership of Mayor Alfred. Thanks to the close coordination and support of other revenue generating offices of the city, most of all to the hard work, sacrifices, and dedication of team CTO," Cordaño expressed her gratitude as she praised the efforts made to win the award, demonstrating that the city government is doing its job in terms of efficiently collecting local taxes.

The prize was meant to be presented in February, but due to quarantine regulations and a ban on meetings, the BLGF decided to present it this time. —Tacloban News Update (Source:Tacloban-CIO)
