For those approaching downtown Tacloban from the south via Real Street, a detour plan has been put in place. Motorists must turn right onto Independencia Street, followed by another right turn onto Esperas Avenue (Magallanes). From there, they can return to Real Street and proceed to their original starting point without encountering road closures.

If traveling from the south via Youngfield, an alternate route is recommended. Drivers should turn onto Paterno Street, make a left turn onto Santa Cruz, and then another left onto Salazar Street. Continuing along Salazar Street, they can reach Lino Gonzaga Avenue and eventually return to Youngfield, ensuring an uninterrupted journey.

For those arriving from the north, including individuals coming from the Bus Terminal or via Anibong Road, a designated route has been outlined. Motorists should follow Quezon Blvd. towards Trece Martirez Street and navigate the roundabout. Subsequently, they can proceed along Magsaysay Blvd., Enage Street, and Jones Street before returning to Trece Martirez Street and their point of origin.

Motorists traveling along Imelda Avenue Extension will find that turning right onto Cong. Mate Avenue provides a convenient exit from the downtown area.

Tacloban City authorities advise attendees to exercise caution, follow instructions from traffic enforcers, and adhere to the temporary route adjustments implemented for the Sangyaw Parade of Light 2023. These measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of participants and spectators while minimizing traffic disruptions. —iTacloban (with reports from CIO)
