EASTERN VISAYAS – Construction of a new multipurpose building at Abaca Elementary School in Dagami, Leyte, has begun to improve the learning experience for students and teachers. The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Leyte Second District Engineering budgeted Php 6.92 million for this project under its Multipurpose Buildings and Facilities program, which is funded by the CY 2023 General Appropriation Act (GAA).

The forthcoming multipurpose building, spanning an area of 288 square meters, will provide a conducive and adequate space for various academic and educational activities. The construction entails the implementation of structural concrete for columns and beams, steel trusses, roofing, lighting fixtures, and painting works.

The facility will feature a stage, two storage rooms, comfort rooms, and a ramp to accommodate Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

District Engineer Leo Edward Oppura expressed the significance of this project, emphasizing how the multipurpose building will serve as a hub for academic and extracurricular pursuits, enabling students to unlock their full potential and develop their skills.

A multipurpose building within the school grounds offers immense possibilities for supporting the school's curriculum and catering to the diverse needs of the students. It provides a versatile and adaptable space that can facilitate various teaching and learning approaches, promoting innovation and flexibility.

The construction project has been entrusted to AAVB Construction and Supply, with an expected completion date on or before August 18, 2023.  —iTacloban (Source: DPWH)
