TACLOBAN CITY – The City Civil Registrar Office (CCRO) is accepting applications for a free wedding ceremony for couples who have been living together for at least 5 years but have not yet received a legal blessing from either the church or the local government.

Couples who wish to take advantage of this opportunity are required to submit the following documents to the CCRO: Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR), Birth Certificate or Baptismal Certificate, photocopy of a valid ID, photocopy of a valid ID of the witness, one (1) godmother and one (1) godfather.

According to Karren D. Kempis, Registration Officer IV of CCRO, the free wedding ceremony will be held in June 2023, with approximately 50 to 100 couples expected to participate. "Angay gud ini singabuton kay libre ngan dako na nga bulig para han mga karuyag magpakasal nga waray sadang ibayad [This is a great opportunity for couples who want to get married but cannot afford the cost]," she said. The cost of a wedding ceremony in Tacloban City is around P1,100.00.

In addition to the free wedding ceremony, the City Government of Tacloban is also providing free food and giveaways for newlywed couples. This activity is part of the government's efforts to support and promote strong family ties. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
