Register your SIM card before April 26 deadline, reminds DICT

DICT urges mobile phone users in the Philippines to register their Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards before the April 26 deadline to prevent the deactivation of their mobile phone numbers.

TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is once again reminding all mobile phone users who have not yet registered their Subscriber Identification Module (SIM) cards to do so before the April 26 deadline.

According to DICT's latest report, as of March 30, 2023, the total number of registered SIM cards in the country has reached 54,700,899.

The agency continues to urge those who have not yet registered their SIM cards to take action as soon as possible, as failure to comply with the registration requirement may result in the deactivation of their mobile phone numbers.

The registration process is simple and can be done online or in person at any authorized registration center. Subscribers must present a valid government-issued ID and provide their personal information, such as their name, address, and birthdate.

The registration requirement aims to curb illegal activities, such as terrorism and other criminal activities, which can be facilitated by using unregistered SIM cards. This measure also supports the government's efforts to ensure national security and public safety.

Mobile phone users who have already registered their SIM cards but still need to update their information are also reminded to do so before the deadline. Updating personal information is necessary to ensure that the user's mobile number remains active and to prevent any inconvenience that may arise from the deactivation of their SIM cards.
