TACLOBAN CITY – The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and Unisys Managed Services, Inc. launched the enhanced Catbalogan Civil Registry System (CRS) Outlet on April 20, 2023, under the Civil Registry System-Information Technology Project Phase 2 (CRS-ITP2).

The project aims to provide an improved CRS system with better accessibility and security features to deliver quality service to people.

The launching was graced by Governor Sharee Ann Tan, who expressed her gratitude for having this kind of technology in Samar, as it will ease the burden of securing civil registry documents for the people.

"We really want to make our services professional and accessible to the people," she said, emphasizing the impact of having the CRS outlet in Samar on the local economy.

The governor was among the first clients of the enhanced CRS Outlet, significantly reducing the processing time of civil registry documents. The improved system will benefit not only the people of Catbalogan but also the entire Samar province, as it will boost activities and transactions in the area.

The CRS-ITP2 is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project between PSA and Unisys Managed Services, Inc. to enhance the country's CRS system with modern technology, aiming to provide better access and security features. The enhanced CRS system includes issuing civil registry documents such as birth, marriage, and death certificates.

Samar Chief Statistical Specialist Riza N. Moraleta expressed her gratitude to Gov. Tan for her unwavering support of the province. She also encouraged everyone to maximize the use of the new and efficient facility.

The Catbalogan CRS Outlet is a part of the PSA's nationwide plan to improve the delivery of its services to the public, particularly the issuance of civil registry documents. The new facility will provide an easier, faster, and more secure process for acquiring civil registry documents. —iTacloban (Source: Samar PIO)
