TACLOBAN CITY –  The groundbreaking ceremony for the Philippines' first fully integrated emergency and disaster training center was led by the Office of the Civil Defense Undersecretary Ariel Nepomuneco in Palo, Leyte.

The facility will have various emergency and disaster response simulators to fully prepare government responders to save lives and protect properties during calamities.

According to the OCD Administrator, the government needs to be more proactive rather than reactive in anticipating and preparing for disasters and emergencies. It is time for the government to maximize its capabilities, capacity, and resources for more effective emergency and disaster response for Filipinos, especially after the recent tragedy in Turkey.

The fully integrated emergency and disaster training center in Leyte will provide government responders with advanced training in dealing with emergencies and disasters, including typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other calamities. —iTacloban
