The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Samar Field Office, in partnership with Samar Provincial Public Employment Service Office, organized an orientation for jobseekers at Balay Samarnon on March 15, 2023.

The event aimed to equip attendees with the necessary knowledge and skills to enter the workforce.

More than 30 jobseekers attended the event, where Labor and Employment Officer II Karen Joan Libres discussed the importance of career coaching and labor market information.

She emphasized how these tools can help jobseekers make informed decisions about their careers by providing timely and relevant labor market information, including job opportunities that are in-demand, emerging, and hard-to-fill.

During the orientation, Libres also discussed Gender and Development, an approach that aims to achieve gender equality and empower both men and women to participate fully in society.

Senior and Labor Employment Officer Demmie Jose Uyvico spoke about workplace relations and the rights and obligations of employees and employers, providing jobseekers with a better understanding of their rights and responsibilities as they enter the workforce.

The event was part of DOLE's efforts to help jobseekers navigate the job market and find suitable employment.

By providing career coaching and labor market information, jobseekers are better equipped to make informed decisions about their careers and find employment opportunities that are a good fit for their skills and interests.  —iTacloban (Source: DOLE-8)
