TACLOBAN CITY – There were no untoward incidents reported during the New Year's celebrations in the Eastern Visayas region as a result of the increased security measures that were put into place by the Police Regional Office 8. (PRO 8).
Between the last day of December 2022 and the first day of January 2023, there were no reports of injuries caused by firecrackers, stray bullets, or indiscriminate firing.
PBGEN Rommel Francisco D Marbil, Regional Director of PRO 8, attributed the peaceful celebration to the full alert status that the region had been placed on following the Oplan Ligtas Paskuhan 2022
PRO 8 has established Police Assistance Desks (PADs) and mobilized personnel for foot and mobile patrols. This is in addition to activating its security plan and reminding the public about the dangers of firecrackers and indiscriminate firing.
