TACLOBAN CITY – A Chevrolet Trailblazer carrying a family of six fell into a creek in Barangay 12, Catbalogan City, on Tuesday morning, January 3.

The family, consisting of Mr. Elmer Dauba, his wife, four children, and a cousin, were on their way to Tacloban City from Allen, Northern Samar, when the incident occurred.

According to Mr. Dauba, driving the vehicle at the time, the family had stopped at a gasoline station in Catbalogan City and were on their way to Tacloban. He added that he had relied on the Global Positioning System (GPS) map to navigate the route and had mistakenly assumed that the creek was a road.

Fortunately, no one in the family was hurt in the incident.

Authorities have reminded the public to double-check their routes and stay alert while driving. They also advise drivers to use caution and multiple resources to ensure they take the proper route to their destination. —iTacloban (with reports from Calbayog Journal)
