TACLOBAN CITY – On the 9th anniversary of Super Typhoon Yolanda, November 8, 2022, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr. presided over the distribution of aid to various sectors at the Leyte Academic Center (LAC) in Palo, Leyte.

The event was a collaboration of several national government agencies, including the Departments of Agriculture (DA), Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Information and Communication Technology (DICT), Health (DOH), and Labor and Employment (DOLE).

Said agencies handed over various interventions to respective beneficiaries to emphasize the government's ongoing commitment to the people of Eastern Visayas nine years after supertyphoon Yolanda devastated the region.

The DA, as the lead agency, provided cash assistance to rice farmers through the RCEF-RFFA Cash Assistance for Filipino Farmers program and two disinfection trucks to the province of Biliran and the municipality of Allen in Northern Samar.

DSWD oversaw the distribution of financial assistance and other provisions to farmers under the Assistance to Individuals in Situation (AICS) Program.

Meanwhile, the DICT distributed laptop computers through their "Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs, and Economic Development (Tech4ED)" program. Through their Health Facility Enhancement Program, the DOH oversaw the transfer of 20 ambulances to local governments (HFEP).

Lastly, DOLE provided cash assistance to its beneficiaries through the "Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Displaced/ Disadvantaged Workers (TUPAD)."

Earlier in the morning, the DA organized the SAAD SAGA 2022 to honor outstanding SAAD farmer beneficiaries and discuss program accomplishments during Phase I implementation. Local chief executives have cited SAAD's 6-year implementation as a significant contributor to the upliftment of marginalized rural communities. (Source: DA)
