Construction of P49-M Multipurpose Evacuation Center in Tacloban North under way

A P49-million evacuation center will soon be built in Tacloban City's northern outskirts, particularly in Barangay 101 New Kawayan.

The Tacloban City government is funding the project in response to Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez's statement that there are many programs for the growing population in the northern part of the city, where the Yolanda survivors' relocation sites are located.

According to a transparency board posted at the construction site, the multipurpose evacuation center began in March 2022 and is expected to be completed in December 2023 or within 640 Calendar Days (CD) of work.

The evacuation center is being built in the back of Police Station 3 near the previously created covered court.

It will also be used for important activities in the barangay or city, such as livelihood trainings, but it will primarily serve as an evacuation center during natural disasters such as typhoons and landslides. —iTacloban (with reports from TCIO)
