TACLOBAN CITY — Fifty-one (51) Taclobanon couples who had been living together for years finally got married on November 17 at Tacloban City's "Kasalang Bayan," which was officiated by Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez.

This is the second mass wedding that the City Civil Registrar's Office (CCRO) has organized and coordinated this year.

Imelda Roa, the City Civil Registrar, emphasized the significance of the legal union, particularly regarding the legitimacy of children born outside of a marriage relationship.

Not only did the City Government pay for the wedding sponsorship, but they also paid for the bridal bouquet, the wedding cake, the tokens, and the reception that followed the ceremony.

The city's future depends on the newlyweds' ability to raise kind and responsible citizens in their offspring, so Mayor Alfred urged them to take this responsibility seriously.

Councilor Elvira G. Casal and Hiraya President Raymund Romualdez, PSA Leyte Chief Statistical Analyst Sheryl Jamisola, and Mr. Andrio Abad, representing PSA Regulatory Director Wilma Perante were in attendance at the mass wedding ceremony. —iTacloban (with reports from TCIO)
