TACLOBAN CITY – The Viewing Deck project of the Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) offered an unobstructed view of the mesmerizing and colorful light exhibition of the San Juanico Bridge on October 19, 2022, for its Ceremonial Lighting commenced by the Philippine President, Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr.

As one of the longest bridges in the Philippines, covering 2.162 kilometers, it can be difficult to find a spot that will provide a panoramic view of the San Juanico Bridge. Hence, the viewing deck was built. It includes a suspended deck slab, concrete pile driving, landscaping, and a solar generator.

With the strategic location from which the viewing deck was constructed, it will soon be possible to witness the magnificent San Juanico Lights, successfully proving its cause—"to complement the beauty of one of the country's monumental infrastructures" as what the District Engineer Johnny M. Acosta stated before.

Hundreds of people also attended the said event—some securing their positions as early as five in the afternoon and others mounted on their automobiles. Civilians grabbed the opportunity to take selfies on the bridge, allowing the media to cover the joyous crowd.

A large LCD screen was provided near the entrance of San Juanico Bridge, broadcasting the speech of President Marcos for everyone to see. Law and traffic enforcers also patrolled the area to ensure the safety of everyone attending the event. (DPWH-TCDEO)
