The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) – completes the construction of a viewing deck and boardwalk that provides a more convenient and better view of the city's most historically significant structure, the San Juanico Bridge, which connects people and stimulates the productive market.

The contract for this project, worth a total of Php 19,205,756.12, is covered by the General Appropriations Act (GAA) of 2021. It includes building a suspended deck slab, driving 450x450 mm concrete piles, landscaping, and installing a solar generator.


"It (project) will enhance the aesthetic appeal of one of the country's most monumental structures (San Juanico Bridge) and encourage the community to appreciate it more." DE Acosta.

Moreover, the viewing deck and boardwalk project are intended to promote local tourism growth and advance the city's economic development.

 The project's construction was completed on April 20, 2022.
