On Monday, August 1, President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. appealed to the public to participate in the government's COVID-19 booster rollout in order to avoid future lockdowns and aid the country's economic recovery.

Marcos encouraged Filipinos to get the vaccines and ensure that the booster rollout was properly implemented during his visit to Pasig City for the PinasLakas Booster Vaccination campaign.

The President urged the public to get their COVID-19 boosters now rather than waiting for the number of cases to rise further.

He said that the coronavirus could be controlled once the majority of the population is fully immunized, and the government would not need to implement lockdowns.

Health officials see the PinasLakas Booster Vaccination campaign as a means of boosting jobs and tourism and allowing schools to open in August.

The ambitious campaign aims to expand immunization, particularly by providing boosters to senior citizens and other vulnerable groups while also immunizing children.

Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, Department of Health Officer-in-Charge Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto, and Pasig City Vice Mayor Robert "Dodot" Jaworski Jr. joined the President.
