Beach farming activity held successfully in Tacloban North

TACLOBAN CITY – The Beach Farming Activity in Tacloban North was a success, with 95 participants from the 2nd batch of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) attending the event on Tuesday morning, August 2, in Brgy. 105 Suhi, Tacloban City.

The Tacloban City Government led the activity in collaboration with the Public Employment and Service Office (PESO), the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), and the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).

According to CENRO Forester Marito Barillo, the activity is intended to lessen the impact of storm surges on coastal areas and the community. Aside from protecting the barangay, the project also aims to help reduce carbon emissions in the face of the global problem of climate change.

Meanwhile, the peacekeeping activity facilitated by PESO through Development Management Officer Katherine P. Singzon was a success. The CENRO office provided technical assistance and guidance in the said beach farming activity. —iTacloban (Source: TCIO)
