The Philippine Youth Convergence (PYC) 2022 is scheduled to be conducted by the Department of Education (DepEd) in order to reevaluate, realign, and refocus youth-related initiatives and be responsive to the needs of the youth.

According to Education Secretary Leonor Briones, the Philippine Youth Convergence was created to give youth a platform for communication and to renew their participation in achieving excellent and inclusive education by facilitating discussions on important and pertinent issues.

Through the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Youth Affairs and Special Concerns - Youth Formation Division (OASYASC-YFD), the Department of Education aims to provide participating learners with the necessary tools, skills, grounding, and perspective through the development of PYC.

The program, which will take place from June 15 to 17 in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, will also find solutions and relevant opportunities to serve the needs of Filipino youth and build the Youth Education Agenda.

The Agenda will reflect students' shared sentiments and perspectives, constructive feedback, and policy recommendations to achieve quality and inclusive education for all while instilling the DepEd Core Values of Maka-Diyos, Maka-Tao, Makakalikasan, and Makabansa.

Furthermore, PYC aims to collaborate and build a strong network across different sectors to deliver accurate, responsive, and impactful change, provide meaningful opportunities for youth to learn about their role in nation-building and provide a safe space for like-minded individuals to network.

More than 2,000 Senior High School (SHS) students, youth leaders, and education stakeholders from across the country will attend the three-day youth summit. Throughout the Convergence, the selected youth delegates will be assisted by their respective Youth Formation Coordinators (DYFCs).

"Our learners' participation in the Philippine Youth Convergence will help us understand their needs and align our initiatives to provide broader opportunities to our youth and achieve inclusive education for all," Youth Affairs and Special Concerns Assistant Secretary Juan Valeriano C. Respicio IV said.
