Graduating students in Leyte receive career counseling and labor education

TACLOBAN CITY – One hundred ninety-seven (197) graduating students from Leyte, Leyte, and Baybay City were recently provided labor education and career guidance orientation by the Department of Labor and Employment in West Leyte.

Ms. Darwinda C. Labastida, Labor and Employment Officer III, delivered the topic of Career Coaching to 132 graduating students of Eastern Visayas State University (EVSU)-Ormoc and Palompon Institute of Technology in collaboration with the LGU of Leyte through its PESO Manager Cristina V. Polinio.

Some Biliran Province State University students living in Leyte, Leyte, were also able to attend the event, which took place on April 5 at the Leyte Municipal Covered Court.

Ms. Labastida also covered General Labor Standards to prepare the students for the real world of work.

Meanwhile, on April 6, 2022, 65 graduating senior high school students from Mapgap Integrated School attended the Career Advocacy and Labor Education held at the Brgy. Mapgap Gymnasium in Baybay City.

Mr. Sergio T. Pea, the School Principal, and all of Mapgap IS's teachers were present during the activity.

Mr. Pea thanked the DOLE for assisting them in providing their students with the necessary knowledge before they enter college the following school year.

Career Guidance is one of the Department's flagship programs that provides employment facilitation intermediation services to youth to provide them with relevant information that can guide them in making informed career choices. —Tacloban News Update (Source: DOLE Region 8)
