MANILA — Beginning November 3, the Department of Health (DOH) and the Vaccine Cluster will begin the nationwide rollout of COVID-19 vaccination among all children aged 12 to 17.

The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) estimates that there will be approximately 12.7 million children aged 12 to 17 in 2021. On October 26, 18,666 minors with comorbidities received their first dose of vaccine in the NCR as part of the initial phase of pediatric vaccination.

"During the nationwide rollout, Pfizer and Moderna vaccines will continue to be used among children." "Once finalized, additional details and guidelines for the nationwide expansion of pediatric vaccination will be released," said DOH Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Singh-Vergeire.

Meanwhile, the DOH continues to urge adults, particularly those in priority groups A2 and A3, to get vaccinated against COVID-19 to create a cocoon effect that protects children at home.

DOH also highlighted that getting vaccinated will protect not only the person but also those around them, in addition to a strict and religious adherence to minimum public health standards (MPHS) and other preventive measures implemented. (DOH/PRESS RELEASE)
