20 individuals from Tacloban North given opportunity at TESDA, PITAHAYA FARM

TACLOBAN CITY — TESDA Scholars were spotted by the Tacloban CIO - News Team collecting "uhot" or rice straws inside the City Government of Tacloban's 13.8 hectares EcoFarm in Brgy. 106 Sto. Niño 

Boyen Castillejos, Trainer on Produced Organic Fertilizer, told CIO that the rice straws collected by the 20 scholars will be milled and reused as fertilizer in Verme Composting.

According to Castillejos, PITAHAYA FARM is a TESDA-accredited Farm Training School with 20 scholars in Tacloban North.

Their training will last 29 days, beginning on September 9, 2021, and ending on October 20, 2021, thanks to funding from the offices of Tingog Partylist Congressman Yedda Marie K. Romualdez and Leyte 1st District Congressman Ferdinand. Martin Romualdez.

Following the training, they will return to their communities in Tacloban North to put their farming skills to use, according to Castellijos.

According to Ruth Ramirez, City Government Coordinator in Tacloban North, PITAHAYA FARM is one of the City Government's partners in promoting Modern Farming in Norte Tacloban as one of its livelihood programs, under the leadership of Mayor Alfred S.
