PRESS RELEASE

PASAY CITY -- The Philippines administered 375,059 anti-COVID jabs on July 13, the highest daily vaccine throughput the country has recorded since the rollout of the National Vaccine Program in March.

This was announced by Secretary Carlito G. Galvez, Jr., vaccine czar and National Task Force against COVID-19 chief implementer, during the arrival of 1 million doses of Sinovac’s CoronaVac vaccines here on Wednesday, July 14.

“[Ang expected namin], tomorrow (July 15) magiging 14 million [jabs] na tayo,” Galvez told reporters.

As of July 13, a total of 13,817,358 COVID-19 jabs have been administered across 4,360 vaccination sites in the country.

Of this figure, 9,932,127 are first dose jabs while 3,885,231 are second dose shots.

According to Galvez, the bulk of the Sinovac vaccines which arrived today has been allocated as the second dose.

“Nakapagbakuna tayo ng more than 4 million last month ng Sinovac. So ito (today’s shipment) mostly pang-second dose. We will deploy this today. Pwede na po itong iturok right away,” Galvez said.

The vaccine czar added that a major portion of the vaccine supplies that will be arriving in July will be deployed to the provinces, following President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s directive on equitable vaccine distribution.

“Sa aming computation, the whole deliveries of July, pinag-isahan na namin ‘yan i-compute. nakikita natin na majority ng ating mga bakuna ngayon, almost 10 million [doses] mapupunta ‘yan sa mga probinsya,” Galvez said.

“Ang mare-retain natin sa NCR plus 8 at sa mga highly urbanized cities, more or less mga 4 to 6 million [doses],” he added.

Other anti-COVID vaccines scheduled to arrive this week are 250,800 doses of Moderna on July 15, and 1.5 million doses of Sinovac on July 17.

“Yan po ang direksyon ng ating mahal na Presidente, na magkaroon tayo ng vaccine security, kaya ang ginagawa natin, we are looking forward na i-combine ang UP-NIH (University of the Philippines-National Institute of Health), ‘yung ating Syndromic Analysis Center, ‘yung RITM (Research Institute for Tropical Medicine), at ‘yung other research (centers), para magkaroon tayo ng isang CDC (Centers for Disease Control and prevention)-like (na facility) na parang sa U.S.,” Galvez said.
