Eastern Visayas recorded 492 new COVID-19 cases, 7 deaths, and 659 recoveries today, June 25, 2021.

TACLOBAN CITY — As of 5PM today, June 25, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region’s total number of COVID-19 cases at 28,490, total recoveries at 25,471 (89.40%), and total deaths at 378 (1.33%). This brings the total active cases to 2,641 (9.27%). 

A total of 492 new cases were recorded today out of the 1,720 laboratory samples.  Of these, 486 were tested in the three (3) COVID-19 laboratories in the region -  the EVRMC, the OMDC, and the DWHVL.  While, six (6) cases were reported by the Philippine Red Cross Cebu Molecular Laboratory in Cebu City. The total number of cases represents a 28.60% positivity rate. 

The EVRCTC has released a total of 1,162 laboratory results. Of these, 813 are negative and 349 are positive (with 347 new cases and 2 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 475 laboratory results. Of these, 313 are negative and 162 are positive (with 126 new cases, 4 re-infections, and 32 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

Whereas, the OMDC has released a total of 33 laboratory results.  Of these, 20 are negative and 13 are positive (with 23 new cases and 5 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

While, the Philippine Red Cross Cebu Molecular Laboratory released a total of 53 cases coming from Eastern Visayas.  Of these, 44 are negative and 6 were positive for COVID-19.

  • EV-24122 – a 24-year old male from Matalom, Leyte who died on June 7, 2021;
  • EV-25564 -  a 66-year old male from Matalom, Leyte who died on June 16, 2021;
  • EV-25679 -  an 82-year old male from Burauen, Leyte who died on June 24, 2021;
  • EV-26279 – a 58-year old male from Kananga, Leyte who died on June 22, 2021;
  • EV-25589 -  a 58-year old female from Naval, Biliran who died on June 23, 2021, and;
  • EV-26083 – a 72-year old male from Santo Nino, Samar who died on June 23, 2021.
