Eastern Visayas sets anew its HIGHEST-EVER recorded COVID-19 cases in a day at 606

Eastern Visayas Region logs another record-breaking tally of single-day COVID-19 cases at 606 today, June 19, 2021.
 
TACLOBAN CITY — As of 12 NN today, June 19, 2021, the Department of Health- Eastern Visayas reports the region's total number of COVID-19 cases at 26,420, total recoveries at 23,447 (88.75%), and total deaths at 363 (1.37%). This brings the total active cases to 2,610 (9.88%). 

A total of 606 new cases were recorded today out of the 2,015 laboratory samples.  Of these, 598 were tested in the region's three (3) COVID-19 laboratories -  the EVRMC, the OMDC, and the DWHVL.  While eight (8) cases were reported by the Philippine Red Cross Cebu Molecular Laboratory in Cebu City.  The total number of cases represents a 30.07% positivity rate. 

The EVRCTC has released a total of 1,247 laboratory results. Of these, 841 are negative, 1 equivocal, 2 invalids, and 403 are positive (with 402 new cases and 1 re-swab) for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the DWHVL has released a total of 627 laboratory results. Of these, 417 are negative, and 210 are positive (with 179 new cases, 1 re-infection, and 30 re-swabs) for COVID-19.

Whereas the OMDC has released a total of 70 laboratory results.  Of these, 53 are negative, and 17 are positive for COVID-19.

While the Philippine Red Cross Cebu Molecular Laboratory released a total of 70 cases coming from Eastern Visayas.  Of these, 62 are negative, and 8 were positive for COVID-19.

  • EV-24146 -  a 66-year old female from Tacloban City who died on June 17, 2021;
  • EV-23845 -  a 97-year old female from Burauen, Leyte, who died on June 10, 2021;
  • EV-23857 -  a 55-year old female from Burauen, Leyte, who died on June 9, 2021;
  • EV-23856 -  a 64-year old female from Burauen, Leyte, who died on June 8, 2021;
  • EV-25060 -  a 52-year old male from Burauen, Leyte, who died on June 8, 2021;
  • EV-24703 – a 53-year old female from Ormoc City who died on June 17, 2021, and;
  • EV-22867 – a 69-year old female from Calubian, Leyte, who died on June 17, 2021.
