TACLOBAN CITY - The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office 8 announced that a school in Eastern Visayas has submitted an application to them for the implementation of limited face-to-face classes in the upcoming 2nd Semester of School Year 2020-2021.

According to Dr. George Colorado, Regional Director of CHED Eastern Visayas, 24 colleges and universities throughout the Philippines have been granted approval or permission by CHED to conduct limited face-to-face wherein those schools provide purely medical or health-related courses.

In Eastern Visayas, the RTR Medical Foundation College in Tacloban applied for the implementation of limited face-to-face classes for the upcoming semester.

CHED is conducting a rigorous evaluation of permitted schools for limited face-to-face classes wherein such schools must ensure that health protocols against COVID-19 are followed in their facilities such as classrooms, offices, and even stairs that students walk on.

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) is scheduled to conduct a national student orientation at 9:30 AM on May 12, 2021, to give schools and students an idea of the plan for limited face-to-face classes.

The orientation's theme is “Kabataan sa Bagong Normal Balik Eskwela Na. #KAMALAYAN Para Sa Estudyante ng Lalong Mataas Na Edukasyon Tungo Sa Ligtas Na Limited Face-to-Face Classes Kasama ang CHED, DOH, at LGUs."

CHED said that all their regional offices and HEIs should encourage their college students to participate in the orientation that aims to prepare students for the gradual re-opening of campuses  through limited face-to-face classes.   —Tacloban News Update (Source: Bombo Radyo/CHED)
