TACLOBAN CITY – Since students are in a new normal set-up, several schools and colleges have moved their platform online which is why ‘internet access’ is now considered a basic necessity.

Due to this, Sanggunian Kabataan (SK) council, in Zone 1 Poblacion in San Roque, Northern Samar, provided an internet allowance to 80 college students who are residents of the said zone or barangay.

The 500-pesos cash incentive is a huge help to them since getting an ‘internet data’ is too costly.

The SK council through their chairman Junssen Corong said that they want to complete the distribution for the remaining beneficiaries next month of December. They also plan to implement the said initiative every school semester.

"Better online access has remained a big challenge for most students as they adapt to the new normal education. So, we decided to implement this project using our reprogrammed budget for sports activities," Corong said in a report.

Upon receiving, beneficiaries of the program, must provide school identification (ID), certificate of registration, or any documents that proves their admission to college.

Corong added that they don't have other qualification, whether or not enrolled in public school.

The Sanggunian Kabataan council of Poblacion 1 in San Roque are also looking forward to expand the said program and cover students in senior high school to help them in their ‘online learning’ needs. iTacloban
