TACLOBAN CITY – A road concreting project by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) is making a significant impact on the lives of the residents nearby the Manlilinao-San Sebastian Road in Ormoc City and Matag-ob, Leyte.

The project, which has an appropriation of Php 96,353,817.11 and a net length of 3.20 lane km or 1.60 km, is expected to be completed soon.

According to Manlilinao Barangay Captain Allan Villarmino, the road concreting addresses the residents' long-standing challenges, especially the barangay's vegetable and rice farmers and coconut planters. He said that the project is a great help to them since vehicles and buyers can now access the area quickly.

Local farmer Larilyn Matilac echoed this sentiment, adding that her children used to arrive at school covered in mud due to the poor road conditions. She said that they are very grateful that their children no longer experience difficulty and that they can deliver their products to Ormoc without any hassle. She said that there is a huge difference between then and now.

The concrete road will continue to facilitate more accessible transportation of goods to the local market and trading centers, especially during the rainy season. This improvement is poised to impact the socio-economic growth in the area positively. —iTacloban
