Tacloban-Clark air route set for revival

Eastern Visayas RDC's approval to reopen the Tacloban-Clark air route paves the way for improved travel in the Northern Philippines, easing congestion at NAIA.

TACLOBAN CITY - Travel enthusiasts in Eastern Visayas have exciting news! The Eastern Visayas Regional Development Council (RDC) has given the green light to resurrect the Tacloban-Clark air route.

Approved on September 26, this decision encourages airlines to reopen the route, aiming to reduce congestion at the busy Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Karina Rosa Tiopes, the Department of Tourism 8 Regional Director, sees this move as a win-win for Eastern Visayas and North/Central Luzon. Tiopes emphasized that reinstating the route will create more travel opportunities, making it easier for people to visit these regions and boosting tourism.

Although AirAsia initially launched the Tacloban-Clark route in 2018, operations were halted due to the pandemic's restrictions. Now, plans are in progress to reignite this travel link.

The revival is expected to bring a surge in tourism and economic activity, promoting regional growth and inviting travelers to discover the beauty of the Northern Philippines. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
