TACLOBAN CITY – The Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) has embarked on an ambitious infrastructure venture by commencing the construction of the Abucay New Bus Terminal Annex Building.

With a budget of Php 135 million, this project aims to transform public transportation infrastructure and offer enhanced facilities for commuters. The construction is anticipated to conclude within 210 calendar days, benefitting the city's transportation landscape.

The facility's innovative two-story structure is designed to simultaneously accommodate up to six public utility vehicles, including buses. The building will house a generator set to ensure an uninterrupted power supply. Inclusive facilities include four restrooms, two for males and females, and dedicated restrooms for persons with disabilities (PWDs).

The architectural design of the building incorporates a second-floor food court complete with kitchen facilities, catering to convenient dining options for commuters. Additional features include a capacious lobby, ticket counters, and both lower and upper decks to facilitate smooth passenger movement. Administrative and operational functions will be housed in dedicated office spaces.

An exceptional feature of the Abucay New Bus Terminal Annex Building is the integration of a footbridge that seamlessly connects to the prominent Robinson's North commercial complex. This direct link grants commuters convenient access to shopping and entertainment, enhancing the appeal of the transportation hub.

Margarita C. Bacierra, Chief of the Planning and Design Section at TCDEO and Project Engineer for the Abucay New Bus Terminal Annex Building expressed her optimism regarding the project's potential impact.

Bacierra said, "The construction of the Abucay New Bus Terminal Annex Building marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to improve transportation infrastructure in Tacloban City. Once completed, this modern facility will provide commuters with a more comfortable and efficient transit experience, while also fostering economic activity through its proximity to commercial establishments." —iTacloban (Source: DPWH-TCDEO)
