25 trainees complete organic agriculture course in Tacloban North

TACLOBAN CITY– After an intensive 29-day journey, 25 dedicated trainees are set to proudly graduate on August 21, completing the NCII Organic Agriculture Production program. Hailing from the GMA Pabahay community in Brgy. 106 Sto. Niño in North Tacloban, these individuals have immersed themselves in comprehensive training that spans various facets of modern farming practices.

The trainees, ranging from 18 to 60 years old, have been passionately engaged in mastering contemporary agricultural techniques, including cultivating vitamins and minerals for livestock and, nurturing pigs, goats, sheep, and the cultivation of vegetables.

Jonabelle L. Morano, the Supervisor of Payag-Payag Integrated School, emphasized that this batch marks only the beginning, as there are plans to continue with a second training batch in the near future.

Marilou Lescabo, one of the trainers, highlighted the significant participation of mothers and out-of-school youth who have actively contributed to this training initiative.

This endeavor is a collaborative effort led by the City Government of Tacloban, working with TESDA and the City Agriculturist Office. The initiative operates under the Training for Work Scholarship Program (TWSP), with trainees benefiting from a daily allowance of 160 pesos.
