TACLOBAN CITY – The city is set to initiate a transformative P30 Million farm-to-market road project, which aims to support local farmers in transporting their produce with greater ease.

The project will commence this year and focus on improving access in the northern barangays, particularly in Palanog, Paglaum, San Roque, Bagacay, and Sto. Nino.

Photos reveal City Planning and Development Coordinator Janis Claire Canta engaging in discussions about the significant initiative with representatives from the Department of Agriculture and Department of Public Works and Highways.

The meeting was conducted to collaborate on the project's planning and ensure its seamless execution.

Following the fruitful discussions, the concerned parties conducted a comprehensive on-site inspection to assess the feasibility and strategize the best approach for the road construction.

The farm-to-market road will be crucial in bridging agricultural and fisheries areas with local markets, offering enhanced connectivity and smoother transportation routes.

"Farm-to-Market roads (FMRs) is the government's initiative to connect and transport agricultural and fisheries areas to markets with relative ease."

By improving transportation infrastructure, the government here aims to facilitate the movement of agricultural and fisheries products to markets more efficiently, easing the burden on local farmers and promoting economic growth in the region. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
