TACLOBAN CITY – In a thrilling showdown at the Sangyaw Cup Men's Basketball Inter-Town Tournament held in Tacloban City on Saturday night, June 17, 2023, Team Paranas of Samar emerged as the winners. The team's impressive performance earned them a substantial cash prize of P100,000.
Demonstrating exceptional skills and teamwork, Team Paranas triumphed over their tough opponents from Dulag, Leyte, finishing the game with a remarkable score of 101. Dulag put up an intense fight but fell short, ending the game with 66 points. Nevertheless, their valiant effort secured them the second-place position and a cash prize of P50,000.
The host city, Tacloban City, showcased their talent on the court and secured the third spot in the tournament. Their performance earned them a cash prize of P30,000, adding to the excitement of the intense competition.
Acting Tacloban City Sports Director Michael De La Peña expressed his gratitude to all the participants from different towns and recognized their valuable contributions to the event.
