EASTERN VISAYAS – On June 21, 2023, 100 Pantawid beneficiaries gathered at the Multi-purpose Hall in Ormoc City in a heartwarming event highlighting social welfare programs' transformative power. The event, Pugay-Tagumpay, served as a ceremonial graduation ceremony to honor and celebrate these 4Ps member-beneficiaries' remarkable progress and achievements in achieving self-sufficiency.
The event was graced by distinguished guests, including City Mayor Lucy Torres-Gomez and City Councilor of Social Services Maria Carmen Jean Rama.
Representatives from the City of Ormoc's various departments, as well as partner stakeholders such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), National Auxiliary Chaplaincy Philippines, Inc. (NACPHIL), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and media partners, were also present. The program was represented by Abner Arintoc, the DSWD 4Ps Provincial Link.
The Pugay-Tagumpay ceremony was a significant milestone for the graduating households, representing their successful journey toward self-sufficiency. As part of the transition, these 100 households were formally handed over to the City Government of Ormoc, which will provide them comprehensive aftercare programs and services.
This collaboration with national government agencies, organizations, civil society groups, and the private sector is consistent with the program's Kilos Unlad Framework, ensuring ongoing support for the beneficiaries' long-term progress.
Furthermore, the City Government of Ormoc extended family food packs to each graduating household as a gesture of support and to aid the households' ongoing journey. This provision serves as a tangible demonstration of the city's commitment to fostering self-sufficiency and improving residents' well-being. —iTacloban
