TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office VIII (DSWD-8) distributed a total of P620,000.00 as Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) to families affected by a devastating fire in Ormoc City.

The recent distribution took place at the Brgy. Libertad Gym, benefiting 62 families with much-needed financial support.

In addition to the financial assistance provided by DSWD-8, the local government of Ormoc provided additional assistance in the form of family food packs, shelter kits, hygiene kits, cooking utensils, and blankets. The DSWD is continuing to work with the local government unit (LGU) to address any other pressing needs of the affected families.

The Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program serves as a social safety net, providing immediate support to individuals and families facing unexpected crises such as illness, the death of a family member, and other crisis situations. It serves as a temporary mechanism to assist individuals and families in their recovery process. —iTacloban
