TACLOBAN CITY – Forty-eight (48) policemen and non-uniformed personnel tied the knot in a mass church wedding called "Kasalang Pulis sa Rehiyon Otso" on June 14, 2023. The event, held at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Santo Niño in Tacloban City, was organized by the Police Regional Office in Eastern Visayas.

The mass wedding was a significant milestone for the participating police personnel to promote the value of family and marriage within the police force. The ceremony, which symbolized the couples' spiritual union, was officiated by Most Rev. John F. Du, Archbishop of Palo. 

Following the wedding, the newlyweds and their guests celebrated their special day at the Pacific Point in San Jose, Tacloban City.

The initiative for the mass wedding was led by PBGEN Vincent S. Calanoga, the Regional Director of Police Regional Office 8, along with the support of PBGEN Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, who was the Regional Director at the time and currently serves as the Acting Director for Comptrollership, PNP. 

The Office of the Regional Community Affairs and Development Division (RCADD) and the Regional Chaplain Service (RCHS), in collaboration with other offices within PRO 8, played instrumental roles in making the event a success.

Principal sponsors included PBGEN Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, PBGEN Vincent S. Calanoga and Mrs. Alexa Christie C. Calanoga, PCOL Veronica T. Agusin, and PLTCOL Catherine DC Dalmacia. 

The wedding also received support from honorable guests such as HON. Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez, House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Representative; HON. Yedda Marie K.
