TACLOBAN CITY – Leyte Park Hotel Grounds, a property acquired by the Tacloban City Government in December 2022, is undergoing a massive clearing operation and renovation.

The considerable changes in the landscape are part of a broader initiative to prepare the area for the city's upcoming annual festivities, including the highly anticipated Karnabal and Sangyawan activities.

As of now, the City General Services Office (CGSO), City Engineering Office (CEO), and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) personnel are diligently working on improving, cleaning, and restoring the said location.

The efforts are all geared towards enhancing the park and making it a suitable venue for the city's festive events.

In addition, plans are being implemented to set up various stalls around the Hotel building. According to Engr. Leo Parado, the officer-in-charge at the CGSO, says these stalls are intended to add vibrancy not just during the Patron festivities but potentially through until December.

The clearing team is focused on maintaining the site's cleanliness while also painting and cementing parts of the area. The expectation is to open Leyte Park to the public by the end of May, just in time to kick off the numerous planned activities for the patron saint's celebration. —iTacloban (Source: CIO)
