TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) –Tacloban City District Engineering Office (TCDEO) has taken part in the ongoing dredging operations of Burayan Creek of DPWH Regional Office 8.

The creek, which measures 3,004 meters, is critical in directing rainwater to the outfall and reducing the impacts of flooding. However, the growing volume of water lilies and silts has significantly affected its capacity.

TCDEO, led by District Maintenance Chief Marichu T. Eduarte, has partnered with Engr. Lemuel Mikkael R. Sibayan of the Equipment Services Unit of the DPWH Regional Office VIII to resolve the issue.

Using an Amphibious Excavator from the DPWH Regional Office VIII's Equipment Management Division, the team covered 1600 meters, or two-thirds of the creek length, beginning in Brgy. 82, Marasbaras, Tacloban City.

The clearing operations, according to Engr. Sibayan, have been completed, and only 400 meters of the creek remain to be dredged. He expressed hope that the team would complete the operation as soon as possible due to favorable weather conditions.
