Fish vendor arrested in drug buy-bust in Calbayog City

A fish vendor in Calbayog City, Samar, was arrested in a buy-bust operation for alleged possession and sale of illegal drugs. The 47-year-old "Sakit" suspect was found with six sachets of suspected shabu, a firearm, and ammunition.


TACLOBAN CITY – Personnel from the Calbayog City Police Station arrested a 47-year-old fish vendor in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Balud, Calbayog City, Samar, on January 17, 2023. The suspect, known by the alias "Sakit," is a resident of P-5, Barangay Balud. 

The operation successfully apprehends Sakit, who was caught selling one sachet of suspected shabu for Php 500 to an operative. 

Authorities found six sachets of suspected shabu in his possession, worth an estimated Php 6,800, a .38 caliber revolver and 15 rounds of ammunition, a coin purse, an empty Vicks Vaporub plastic container, Php 500 marked money, and the Php 500 used in the buy-bust operation.

Sakit is currently in the custody of the Calbayog City Police Station and faces charges of violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The successful arrest of Sakit is the result of the Philippine National Police's intensified campaign against illegal drugs. It serves as a warning to those involved in illegal drug activities that the authorities are determined to prosecute them.
