TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Leyte First District Engineering Office (DEO) has successfully completed the construction of a multi-purpose building (MPB) in Brgy. Lourdes, Alangalang, Leyte.

The project, which had a total allocation of Php 5.884 million under the General Appropriations Act for 2022, was completed at the start of the 3rd quarter of the previous year.

Despite some delays caused by adverse weather conditions, the multi-purpose building is fully operational and can be used for various recreational activities.

The building provides the local communities with a reliable public space that can be used to deliver government services. District Engineer Adelfa A. Bonifacio stated, “In times of calamities, the covered court may also serve as an evacuation center for Barangay Lourdes and its neighboring barangays, providing shelter and security to affected individuals.”

In addition to completing this project, the DPWH also announced the Concreting of Farm-To-Market Road Phase II in Brgy. Malaguinabot to Brgy. Capilihan, San Miguel, Leyte, has been substantially completed and will soon be available.

This two-lane paved road stretches 2.1 lane kilometers and will greatly benefit local farmers and residents in the area, who have long faced difficulties with transporting their products to market due to poor road conditions.

The Php 12.47-million road infrastructure will not only prevent accidents caused by slick roads during inclement weather, but will also improve transportation of basic necessities within the municipality.

Residents of Brgy. Malaguinabot and Brgy. Capilihanare highly anticipating completing this road development as it will provide them with more convenience when accessing basic necessities at commercial centers and markets located in poblacions and highways.
