8 airports to receive funding for rehabilitation under 2023 nat'l budget

DBM announces that 8 airports across the country will receive funding for rehabilitation and improvement under the 2023 national budget. Tacloban City Airport to receive the highest budget worth PHP1.42 billion.

TACLOBAN CITY – The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) announced on Thursday, January 19, that approximately eight airports across the country will receive funding for rehabilitation and improvement under the 2023 national budget.

In a statement, the DBM said that the allocation of funds is in line with the implementation of at least eight airport projects given under the 2023 General Appropriations Act (GAA).

The Tacloban City Airport will receive the highest budget amounting to PHP1.42 billion for its modernization, the DBM said. 

Following the Tacloban Airport are the Laoag International Airport and Antique Airport, which will receive approximately PHP785 million and PHP500 million, respectively, according to the DBM.

The DBM added that the government will also allocate PHP200 million for the New Zamboanga International Airport, PHP80 million for the Bukidnon Airport, PHP50 million for the Vigan Airport, PHP43 million for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport, and PHP15 million for the M’lang Airport.

DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman said that funding these projects for constructing and repairing eight airports in the country is part of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.'s promise to improve the country's mobility and connectivity.
