Tacloban City celebrates 14th anniversary as HUC

TACLOBAN CITY government celebrated the city's 14th anniversary as a Highly Urbanized City (HUC) with a 3-in-1 party on December 20, 2022, at the Tacloban City Astrodome.

The festivities included a Christmas Party, Family Day, and the anniversary of the city's HUC status, granted by Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo on October 4, 2008, and confirmed by a referendum on December 18, 2008.

The event featured a wide range of food and numerous prizes, including a raffle for all city government employees.

In honor of the birth of Jesus Christ, each department of the LGU prepared a unique presentation that included singing and dancing.

The first place in the group category received PHP 20,000, the second place received PHP 15,000, and the third place received PHP 10,000.

Other teams received a consolation prize of PHP 5,000. Individual winners received PHP 5,000 for first place, PHP 3,000 for second place, and PHP 2,000 for third place, with those from the Red, Green, and Lavender teams receiving a PHP 1,000 consolation prize.

Mayor Alfred S. Romualdez made the party even more festive by raffling off 10 prizes of PHP 5,000 and two prizes of PHP 10,000. The City Government of Tacloban celebrated another year of being a Highly Urbanized City with cheer, laughter, and joy. (Source: CIO)
