TACLOBAN CITY – The top-performing district representatives in Eastern Visayas were recognized by the RP-Mission and Development Foundation, Inc. (RPMD) in a comprehensive nationwide review of the performance of the country's top government and cabinet officials.
The survey, conducted from November 27-December 2, 2022, polled all House of Representatives District Representatives on their overall performance for the year 2022.
In the Eastern Visayas region, Cong. GerryBoy Espina Jr. of the lone district of Biliran emerged as the top performer with a job performance rating of 90 percent. Cong. Michael T. Tan of Samar (2nd District) placed second with 86 percent, followed by Cong. Luz V. Mercado of Southern Leyte (1st District) with 83 percent. Cong. Paul R. Daza of Northern Samar (1st District) came in fourth with 80 percent, while Cong. Maria Fe Abunda of Eastern Samar (Lone District) placed fifth with 78 percent.
The performance of these District Representatives was evaluated based on their representation, legislation, and constituent service. These three areas were chosen as they are considered the most important to the constituents of each district.
The "House of Representatives Public Satisfaction Survey" was conducted independently by RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. and was non-commissioned. The survey was conducted in each district across all regions, with a total of 10,000 respondents providing feedback on their District Representative's performance. Each representative was then ranked based on the ratings received from their constituents.
Ferdinand Martin Romualdez, currently serving as House Speaker, was not included in the survey.
The top-performing District Representatives were commended for their exceptional performance and urged to continue their good work in serving their constituents. The survey results remind all government officials of the importance of delivering quality services to the public and being accountable to the people they represent.
