The Department of Tourism (DOT) has launched a one-year campaign called Bisita, Be My Guest (BBMG) to boost the country's tourism industry. It was officially announced by Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall on Thursday, December 15.

The one-year initiative aims to restore the Philippines' tourism industry to pre-pandemic levels as President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. relaxes travel restrictions to and from the country.

According to Frasco, the BBMG campaign is an outgrowth of a study conducted by the Department of Tourism (DOT) on the motivations of visitors to the Philippines.

The study surveyed 260,000 respondents and found that 44% of travelers were motivated to visit family and friends, while 43% traveled for vacation and leisure.

Frasco said that they see BBMG as a way for Filipinos to show their love for the country by inviting visitors to their homes, showing them the beauty of our landscapes and beaches, our culture and heritage, and allowing them to experience world-class Filipino hospitality.

She added that it inspires ordinary Filipinos to become shepherds, tending and herding visitors to the country and empowering our industries to rise above challenges and recover from the pandemic's devastating effects.

The BBMG campaign encourages Filipinos to show off their country's beauty and hospitality to visitors, thereby assisting the tourism industry in recovering from the effects of the pandemic.

It is also a promising initiative that aims to restore the Philippines' tourism industry to pre-pandemic levels through the participation of ordinary Filipinos. We can help bring visitors to the Philippines and contribute to the country's economic recovery by showcasing the country's beauty, culture, and hospitality.
