LANDBANK makes it easier for 3.4 million pensioners to claim 'ayuda'

LANDBANK is increasing the distribution of Prepaid Cards to vulnerable sectors so social pensioners can receive cash grants and perform other banking transactions easier.

As the Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) continues to increase the distribution of Prepaid Cards to vulnerable sectors, social pensioners can now receive their cash grants and conduct other banking transactions more conveniently.

Around 3.4 million beneficiaries of the Department of Social Welfare and Development's (DSWD) Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens are among the nearly 10 million recipients of LANDBANK Prepaid Cards under the agency's major social protection programs.

Lucy Cabalan, a UCT beneficiary, was one of 1,499 social pensioners who received financial assistance via LANDBANK Prepaid Cards during a recent card distribution activity in Minglanilla, Cebu.

Cabalan, 80, relies on her pension to supplement her daily needs and to purchase asthma maintenance medication because she has no permanent source of income.

"Nagpapasalamat ako sa LANDBANK dahil nabigyan ng pansin naming mga senior citizens. Masaya ako kasi ito ang pinaka-unang card natanggap ko mula sa LANDBANK," Cabalan explained.

Social pensioners can withdraw cash aid from any of the country's 2,899 LANDBANK ATMs using LANDBANK Prepaid Cards. At the end of September, they could also withdraw cash for free from the ATMs of 1,980 7-Eleven convenience stores in select areas.

The Prepaid Cards can also be used to make cashless purchases at participating stores such as drugstores and grocery stores and to transact with the Bank's Agent Banking Partners (ABPs) in outlying areas.

LANDBANK previously converted CCT and UCT beneficiaries' existing prepaid cards into transaction accounts with expanded features to provide more convenient banking services, such as prepaid card loading through LANDBANK branches, fund transfers through the LANDBANK Mobile Banking App, and cash-in via LANDBANK Cash Deposit Machines.
