TACLOBAN CITY – Three-hundred seventeen (317) families received monetary Shelter Assistance (SA) from the Disaster Response Management Division of the DSWD Field Office VIII in Baybay City, Leyte, on November 22, 2022.

A direct check payout of P10,000 was made to all eligible recipients whose homes were completely destroyed by Typhoon Odette in December 2021.

The program is intended to be a short-term intervention to reduce typhoon victims' exposure to vulnerabilities and to meet their needs other than food and non-food items.

The SA distribution was a success thanks to the assistance of Baybay City's City Social Welfare and Development Office; all who came to claim their checks received them without incident.

In the coming days, the region's DRMD will continue distributing shelter assistance to other LGUs.
