The Leyte 4th District Engineering Office (DEO) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Center in Ormoc City.

According to DPWH, said project is funded by the General Appropriations Act (GAA) 2021 and has a total budget allocation of Php 20 million. The three-story structure has a total floor area of 912 square meters and includes 9 classrooms for more than 200 trainees, as well as a roof deck with a water tank provision.

The new building will be used for carpentry, masonry, and tile-setting courses, according to Technical Education and Skills Development Center (TESDC) Administrator Allan O. Nobria, because these skills are most in demand by construction firms.

"With the completion of this structure, DPWH has provided TESDA personnel and trainees a spacious, reliable building conducive to learning," said District Engineer Allan D. Eway.

Using said building will eventually result in more skilled workers and job opportunities in the City of Ormoc. —iTacloban (Source: DPWH-8)
